LONDON:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the competent authorities on Monday to develop a complete roadmap and a reform program with practical projects aimed at promoting investment and trade in all key sectors.
Chair a high -level meeting by zooming in the improvement of investment, economic and commercial activities in Pakistan, the Prime Minister stressed that agriculture, IT, minerals, tourism and renewable energies were important sectors that could attract foreign investments.
In addition to the investment, he said that trade promotion was also part of government policy to considerably increase the country’s exports.
The Prime Minister said that objectives had been granted to the ministries to use all the resources available to ensure the timely completion of all current projects.
He also ordered all ministers to identify achievable projects and take immediate measures to put them into practice. To this end, he said that a roadmap and a reform program should be designed by thinking in the future, so progress towards our objectives can be achieved in an organized manner.
The Prime Minister stressed that the private sector will play a central role in the economic roadmap and that its participation will be assured. “Our current economic and financial reform policies have given a new orientation to the economy, and due to innovation and transparency, the country is now on the path of development,” he added.
Later, the Prime Minister left London for New York to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
