Pakistan has urged dialogue and restraint to avoid climbing after reporting Russian incursions in Polish and Romanian airspace, warning that diplomacy remains the “only path” of lasting peace.
Addressing a session of the Emergency Emergency Security Council on Monday, the Ambassador of the Permanent Representative of Pakistan Asim Iftikhar Ahmad reaffirmed the support of Islamabad to the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of all the Member States. He said the conflict in Ukraine, now entering its fourth year, continues to threaten regional and global stability.
“Pakistan has repeatedly drawn attention to the negative consequences of this conflict and the need to end it,” said Ahmad to the body of 15 members. “We firmly believe that only a significant dialogue that responds to the security problems of all parties, is anchored in the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, and respects the relevant multilateral agreements can help to ensure peace – a peace which is both fair and lasting.”
He stressed that the cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomacy were essential for sustainable regulations, adding that Pakistan is ready to support all regional and international efforts to a peaceful resolution.

The Council summoned itself under its program on “threats to international peace and security” following a letter from Estonia alleging that, on September 19, three Russian MIG-31 fighters violated Estonian air space.
UN deputy secretary general, Miroslav Jenca, warned that “the world simply cannot afford such a danger to become uncontrollable”, citing the intensification of Russian strikes over Ukraine and reported victims in Russia.
The Deputy Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia, Dmitry Polyanskiy, rejected the statements of Estonia, claiming: “The facts prove that, on September 19, three Russian hunting planes MIG-31 led a planned flight from Karelia to an air base in the Kaliningrad Oblast, exercised strictly with the international rules of efficiency.”
He rejected allegations as “Russophobic hysteria”, accusing Moscow’s neighbors to imagine violations where none occurred. “Today, we are forced to look at the second part of the show entitled” Back Russia for everything “”, he said.
The Minister of Affairs of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna, countered by displaying radar screenshots and MIG-31 photographs loans for combat. “The violation is clear,” he said, noting that this marked the fourth violation of airspace by Moscow in 2025 and part of what he called a wider scheme of provocations against the neighbors of Russia.
