- Perplexity publishes a new AI email assistant to write, summarize and more
- It works through Gmail and Outlook, and promises big productivity gains
- However, it will only be available as part of a subscription costing $ 200 / month
Perplexity has introduced a new AI tool designed to act as a personal AI assistant to transform e-mails into usable information, but this has a cost.
Although in isolation, the new e-mail assistant tool may not seem so expensive, it is only available for subscribers of Perplexity Max, which means a combined monthly invoice of $ 200.
Perplexity says that the e-mail assistant can write answers by email in your tone and style, manage back and forth planning, add meetings to your calendars, provide summaries of emails and meetings and allows you to ask questions about your reception box. It also organizes emails with smart labels and works through Gmail and Outlook.
Email assistant for perplexity max
For existing subscribers, the e-mail assistant adds more value to the high-level plan, which includes unlimited laboratories, early access to new features and advanced model options, but for non-bodies, it is a very expensive option for a modest increase in productivity.
The advantages of productivity are not entirely clear, with a perplexity which boasts that users could see an increase in productivity of 3-18x per day – a wide range.
But, especially for companies (which are probably the biggest subscribers), the SOC 2 compliance and the GDPR guarantees maximum confidentiality of data, and Perplexity promises to never train on user data thanks to business quality encryption.
To interact with the e-mail assistant, users must either send an e-mail to the [email protected] or to CC the address in the threads. “The e-mail assistant knows that it is you and is right to work,” said Perplexity.
All that is said, perplexity is not the only company to offer assistance generating AI in the email environment, and it is far from the cheapest.
Google Gemini are already integrated into Gmail to summarize messaging wires, find information in the reception boxes and craft responses. Microsoft’s co -pilot also fits into Outlook for planning, action, summary and more.
