Quetta:
An explosion took a railway in the Dasht area of the Mastung district in Baloutchistan on Tuesday, targeting the Jaffar Express traveling from Peshawar to Quetta and injuring a dozen passengers.
The officials said the device was an improvised explosive planted near the track, which exploded when the train passed. The explosion derailed four bogies and left several passengers, including women and children injured.
Rescue teams and security forces quickly reached the site to evacuate the victims. The injured were taken to Quetta hospitals, and an emergency was declared to ensure appropriate medical care.
Health officials have said that some passengers have undergone minor injuries, others remain in serious condition and receive intensive care. The online shared images have shown that the rescue teams working with the police to clean the wreckage and help passengers.
The rail authorities confirmed that the explosion had seriously damaged the track, forcing a suspension of the train services in the region. An investigation was launched, although no group claimed the responsibility of the attack.
The Minister of Railways Hanif Abbasi ordered an investigation into the incident of Jaffar Express and ordered the authorities to submit a report within 24 hours.
