For the first time in the history of the MLB, bullets and strikes can be challenged from the regular season of 2026.
The Balls / Strikes Automated Challenge system (ABS), which was presented during spring training to test it at the level of the big league, will be implemented after the joint competition of the competition voted for this on Tuesday afternoon.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred made an announcement on the massive change in baseball game.

“The previous rules changes that have been adopted by the joint competition committee have been suspended and created a momentum for the game,” he said in a statement. “We used the same process with ABS which started listening to fans, carrying out in -depth tests at the level of the minor league and trying at each stage to improve the game. Throughout this process, we worked on the deployment of the system in a way that is acceptable to players. The strong preference of players for the challenge format on the use of technology to call each pitch was a key factor to determine the system.”
