- The most important Google TV overhaul since its launch
- A simpler and less congested design with incoming AI characteristics
- Seems to be a limited test rather than a big deployment
The Google TV interface has been with us for a long time in the technological years: it has barely changed since its launch in 2020, a bar obtaining slightly rounder icons last year. But now, a greater update appears on the televisions of certain people and, according to 9TO5google, things seem quite different.
The first thing you notice is that all the navigation buttons now live in the upper left corner of the screen, and there are fewer tabs than before: because you are now at home and it appears alongside the tabs for applications and applications.
The profile selection button is on the far left and there is a new button on the right of the tabs for quick access to the screen saver settings. Your surveillance list and library are accessible via the profile button, as are your content services and preferences. These two lived before in parameters> accounts and profiles.
What’s new in the update Google TV interface?
The settings menu is no longer visible on the home page, and for the moment we do not know where it will present itself. This is also where Google Home’s features lived, so it’s quite important.
It looks a lot like a work in progress, because it does not appear widely: it seems that Google is at the start of the test with some selected users rather than starting a deployment.
We know that there is more to come: Google also brings its ambient display center and its AI Gemini on the platform: as we pointed out in January, it obtains a “heavy infusion” of AI intelligence, improved photo gallery functionalities and better recommendations.
One of the interesting features of Google TV that is incoming is the presence detection, and the first TV to support it is now available: TCL QM9K is the first Google TV with Gemini, and its sensors can wake up the TV when someone enters the room to show them illustrations, Google photos and AI images created by Geminites.
