Blast derails Jaffar Express in Dasht

Quetta:

On Tuesday, a railway track in the Dasht area was struck by a powerful explosion, targeting the Jaffar Express traveling from Peshawar to Quetta.

The officials said that the apparatus, an improvised explosive planted near the track, died while the passenger train passed. The explosion derailed four bogies and left nearly a dozen injured passengers, including women and children.

Rescuers and security forces quickly reached the site and launched emergency efforts to evacuate the victims. The injured were transferred to Quetta hospitals, where an emergency was declared to guarantee a timely treatment.

Health managers have indicated that even if several passengers have undergone minor injuries, some remain in serious condition and receive intensive care.

The online shared images have shown that the rescue teams working alongside the police to clean the wreckage and help passengers.

The rail authorities confirmed that the explosion had seriously damaged the track and led to a suspension of the train services in the region. An investigation has been launched, although no group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack.

A similar incident occurred in August 2025 when six bogies were derailed near the same place.

This incident had come only three days after a Jaffar Express, linked to Quetta, narrowly escaped a disaster in Sibi, where a bomb planted near the track exploded just after passing the traveler train.

In another almost manque incident on July 24, a powerful explosion tore the Quetta-Sibi rail section, damaging a BOLAN mail bogie.

A derailment of July 28 of the Jaffar Express train to Sukkur was initially attributed to an explosion – even by the media managed by the government – but that the ministry of railways later declared that a technical fault was the cause.

In June, a powerful explosion of a controlled remote explosive device adjusted on the railroad tracks caused four jaffer Express bogies in Jacobabad. No one was injured in the incident.

In April, train 3UP in the direction of Karachi in Quetta was arrested at Jacobabad station for security reasons.
