Peshawar:
Tensions broke out on the Tirah Valley of the Khyber district on Tuesday, the demonstrations continued on the death of civilians, while the first cycle of talks between a government delegation, including provincial ministers, and the demonstrators ended without breakthrough.
The demonstrators put pressure on requests for responsibility for civilian victims in Tirah. According to sources, they insisted that the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, and the body commander visit the sit-in site to apologize to the families of the victims.
They also asked for guarantees that such incidents would not happen again. The government delegation assured that the chief minister would personally attend the sitt-in in the coming days to offer condolences. However, the demonstrators promised to continue their demonstration until their requests are satisfied.
The demonstrations arise from a late explosion Sunday evening in Akakhel, Tirah, who killed at least 14 activists and 10 civilians. While the police maintained the explosion occurred in an IED factory managed by TTP, opposition legislators insist that it was caused by air strikes that destroyed civil houses.
The problem again sparked an animated debate in the KP assembly. The legislators of the Treasury benches Shafi Jan, Dr. Amjad and Fazl Hakeem protested firmly against the murder of civilians in Tirah and called for an immediate session of the parliamentary committee.
The legislators criticized the Minister of Defense Khawaja Asif and the Minister of Railways Hanif Abbasi for having called Afghanistan an enemy state, arguing that such remarks were ignored the deep tribal and cultural links through the border.
They stressed that peace in KP was closely linked to Afghanistan, adding that peace was deliberately saved as part of a conspiracy. The legislators stressed that the chief minister and his team would continue with the Afghan authorities.
