The Jaffar Express should leave Quetta for Peshawar on Wednesday was canceled, confirmed the railway officials, adding that the services will remain suspended for the next three days while the repair work continues on the damaged track.
The authorities confirmed that the passengers had received complete reimbursements.
One day earlier, a railroad in the Dasht area was struck by a powerful explosion, targeting the Jaffar Express. The explosion derailed four bogies and left nearly a dozen injured passengers, including women and children.
Rescue and recovery operations were launched shortly after the incident. Heavy machines had been deployed to restore the track, while the derailed coaches were raised and the damaged bogies removed.
Railway managers said Jaffar Express and Bolan Express services remain suspended and will only resume the fully restored track.
In addition, Fareed Express, traveling from Lahore to Karachi, derailed while entering the Platform two to Kotri Railway Junction. Three train bogies derailed.
Railway staff and cranes were called to restore derailed coaches. Meanwhile, passengers of the touched coaches were moved to other compartments.
According to Sources de l’Express PK Press Club, more than 200 trains derailment incidents have been reported each year.
