- Boyd Gaming has undergone a cyber attack by compromising the data of employees and individuals
- Commercial operations have not been affected, but the details of the stolen data remain clear
- The company expects insurance to cover the costs of inquiry, legal and regulatory
Boyd Gaming Corporation, a casino and hotel company based in the United States, properties operating in several states, has confirmed the suffering of a recently cyber attack in which it has lost data sensitive to employees, as well as information on “other individuals”.
In a new 8-K form filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States, the company said it had experienced a “incident” of cybersecurity in which unauthorized third parties have accessed its computer system.
To approach the attack, Boyd called on third -party cybersecurity experts and informed the relevant authorities and government agencies.
No hardware impact
The subsequent survey determined that the attack had no impact on its properties or commercial operations, but it confirmed that “certain data” of the network was stolen, including “information on employees and a limited number of other people”, indicates the form.
“The company informs individuals affected and has or will inform or inform its various regulators and other government agencies if necessary.”
We do not know the nature of the stolen files, nor how many people are affected by theft – but we contacted Boyd with other questions and update the article if we hear.
In the meantime, Boyd says that he does not think that the incident will have an important effect on his financial situation or his operating results.
“The company maintains a complete cybersecurity insurance policy, which, in our view, will cover the costs associated with the response to incidents and forensic surveys, as well as business interruptions, legal and regulatory fines, if necessary, subject to police and franchise limits,” he concluded.
The hotel and casino industry is among the most targeted areas in the world, with many high -level cyber attacks in the sector, including a recent Bragg incident, as well as the spider spider cybercrime gang would have hit several Las Vegas casinos in 2023.
