Sindh distributes scooters under a “pink diagram”

Karachi:

The president of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has given the keys to women who have benefited from the “Scheme Scooty Rose”, a government initiative in the Sindh which provides free electric scooters to women.

The program, launched by the Sindh transport department, aims to improve the mobility of women and to create better access to transport and employment possibilities in the province.

Speaking during the event, Bilawal stressed that the inclusion of women is essential to the development of any nation, economy or society. He reiterated the PPP’s commitment to the empowerment of women and highlighted the measures taken by the government to improve access to public transport for women in the province.

“It is a question of pride that Sindh has already introduced electric buses into public transport, then launched the pink bus service dedicated to women,” he said.

“Today, we take another big step by distributing electric scooters for women for free, which will not only facilitate their daily journey, but will also offer better access to job possibilities,” he added.

Bilawal has also announced the upcoming launch of a new initiative – pink taxis – which will offer safe trips and job opportunities to women through the Sindh. Citing the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Bilawal said: “No nation can reach the height of glory unless your women are side by side.”

He noted that while some countries impose restrictions on women, the Sindh government is actively working to expand their opportunities. “We want to send a strong message to Pakistan and the world – the Pakistani peoples party is with women in this country.”

He also appreciated the role of KFC Pakistan to join the program by supporting the training by bicycle and licenses to rider women, calling for other stakeholders in the private sector to engage in public-private partnership models for mutual benefit.

Bilawal underlined the transformer results obtained thanks to the PPP in the Sindh, in particular in the economic uprising of Tharparkar, the construction of new roads and bridges, and the improvement of the sectors of education and health care.

Speaking of agricultural support, Bilawal reiterated PPP’s commitment to farmers affected by floods, announcing that the government will offer financial assistance through the Benazir Hari card. Farmers with up to 25 acres in land will receive support to buy fertilizers as part of this program.
