- Samsung One UI 8.5 has disclosed in a practical video
- There are notable design changes on the way
- A double tape back gesture could also be added
With a user interface 8 (based on Android 16) which is now heading for more and more Samsung Galaxy handsets, we are now starting to see leaks around the main update of the 8.5 user interface which should officially drop in 2026.
The Samobile team has managed to obtain an early test construction by working on an ultra galaxy S25, and it seems that a fairly major visual overhaul is in store – although it is in mind that it is far from the final version of the software.
Some icons abandon their text labels, for example, while there is a more in -depth use of the deposit shadows and floating menus. The arrangement of the fast parameter panel that falls at the top can also be personalized to a larger extent.
Other changes that have been spotted are a little more subtle, such as an adjustment of the icon for percentage of the battery. Overall, the interface seems a little cleaner and easier to move, even if there are probably more changes between now and its final version.
Double-TAP to launch
To watch
Some additional dug by Android Authority revealed that an 8.5 user interface could also add a double -tape back gesture, to which it looks like: you press twice at the back of your Galaxy phone to launch a function or function.
Some of the features that you can apparently launch using this gesture are the flashlight, the notification shutter and the screenshot function. You can also use it to quickly start an application of your choice, if you wish.
Of course, this is a feature that is available on iPhones, pixels and various other models for several years now, so it is strange that Samsung has taken so long to contribute it (although you can already get third -party applications to do the same job).
We don’t really have any clues at the moment when an 8.5 user interface will be deployed, but given that a 9 user interface (based on Android 17) will be due in the middle of 2026, this update could well see the day of the day at the start of next year.
