Karachi:
Chandni, the two -year -old camel, she brutally tortured by an owner in Sukkur for rushing into her fields, has undergone major surgery in a refuge in Murad Memon Goth.
According to The Shelter Management, a team of veterinarians managed to repair their fractured jaw by inserting stems and a support frame to restore it. During the same procedure, the veterinarians also amputated its seriously infected rear paw to prevent the spread of a potentially fatal infection.
The animal was administered an anesthesia and strong analgesic throughout the surgery.
Chandni had fought against several fatal injuries, including a crushed leg, a broken jaw, a burned tongue and a blood infection transmitted by ticks.
Before surgery, its blood tests and X -rays were carried out, while two other camels, Kimi and Kelly, were detected as possible blood donors.
The refuge officials said that Chandni had been kept on a special diet comprising camel milk, carrot paste, bottle bottle, rice, jagré leaves and drinking water in satisfactory quantities.
While qualifying surgery a success, management said that the next few hours are essential.
“It is under intensive care, but its survival now depends as much on medical support as on prayers,” said a refuge representative.
