Jennifer Lawrence spoke of the death of children in Gaza at a press conference on Friday at the San Sebastian Film Festival, where she was promoting her latest film, Die, My Love.
“I am terrified and it is mortifying. What is happening is no less than a genocide, and it is unacceptable. I am terrified for my children, for all our children,” said the Oscar -winning actress in response to a question of journalists.
Lawrence, 35, has also criticized the tone of American politics, expressing her concern about her impact on young people.
“In addition to everything else, what makes me so sad is that this lack of respect and the discourse of American politics at the moment will be normal for them. I mean, children who vote at the moment at 18 years, it will be completely normal for them that politics has no integrity. Politicians lie; there is no empathy,” she said.
The actress added that ignorance of world conflicts risked the consequences closer to their home.
“Everyone must remember that when you don’t know what’s going on on one side of the world, it will not take long before it is also on your side,” she warned.
