Tommy Fleetwood continues to be a thorn on the side of the American team.

According to Data Golf, the association of Morikawa and English has classified itself as the worst grouping of the 132 possible Ryder Cup pairs. But when Fleetwood is on the course, it doesn’t matter who is there.

Winning is fun, and Rory McILroy appreciated his time alongside Fleetwood, committing with certain fans.

McILroy spoke of interacting with fans earlier this week and trying to find a happy medium.

“I sometimes feel in the Ryder Cup, I have signed up … too much with the crowd. But there are times when I have not engaged enough. It is therefore really fair to try to find the balance of the use of this crowd energy to feed your performance,” said McILroy on Thursday. “I felt like at Hazeltine, I probably got into too much sometimes, then whistle the straits, I did not commit myself enough and I felt quite flat because of that. He just tries to find this balance.”

The captain of Europe, Luke Donald, congratulated Fleetwood, who won no PGA event before last month, to be a “world class” player.

“I think Tommy is a guy who loves to be with the team. He likes to contribute to this team. Yes, he is a nice player to play with. I think he is at the top of the list of many guys in the team with which people want to play,” said Donald on Friday.
