A rising gymnast who hoped to represent his homeland at the Olympic Games died Thursday after undergoing a serious injury during a training accident in Russia.
The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation confirmed the death of Naufal Takdir Al Bari, 19, which occurred after a 12 -day stay in intensive care.
“The Indonesian gymnastics federation is in mourning, the male athlete Naufal Takdir Al Bari has died,” wrote the organization on Instagram. “The 19 -year -old gymnast breathed his last after having suffered intensive care for 12 days at Ga Zakharyin hospital.”

Al Bari would have undergone a serious neck injury after being fell into a foam pit as he trained at the helm, according to the social media position of the Russian gymnastics federation.
Al Bari looked at the qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

However, before the summer games, Al Bari had set up on the artistic artistic gymnastic championships of this year in Indonesia. The championships should start in October.

In a statement, the Indonesian president of gymnastics Ita Yuliati described Al Bari as “a talented young athlete, and a good silhouette”.
“Indonesian gymnastics has lost the best of the nation,” continued the statement, adding: “It is a deep blow and pain for us. Let the family make strength.”

An investigation into the death of Al Bari concluded that he was poorly prepared for the training session.
“We conducted the necessary investigation, and all the circumstances surrounding the injury were established. Unfortunately, the athlete was not ready to achieve such a complex element,” said the vice-president of the Russian gymnastics federation, Vasily Titov, in a telegram post, translated by the Russian.
We still do not know which specific cascade Al Bari played before the tragic event.
The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation did not immediately respond to the request for comments from PK Press Club Digital.
