On Saturday evening, the Detroit Tigers had the chance to do toast.
Despite the absence of Alex Bregman, Jarren Duran and Trevor Story of the programming on Saturday, the Tigers still managed to keep a 2-1 victory over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. The victory earned Detroit a place in the playoffs and moved the tigers at the top of the central classification of Al.

A victory for Detroit, combined with a defeat of the Guardians in one of their last two games, would give the Tigers the Central Crown.

The Tigers route to the playoffs was particularly tenuous while the team was trying to end an end of season collapse.
“A kind of crazy tower, but it’s worth it,” manager AJ Hinch told Tigers on Saturday. “We went up, we went down, we went back.”
In July, the Tigers held a 14 -game advance in the division. In early September, their advance fell to 9½ games – but a free fall in the standings followed.
Detroit dropped 12 of the 14 games, which forced them to equalize with the Guardians. If the race of Al Central ends with equality, Cleveland has the advantage of equality break.
