Suparco is preparing for World Space Week 2025

The National Space Agency of Pakistan, the space and high atmosphere research committee, announced national celebrations for the World Space Week (WSW) 2025, the largest annual space event in the world, which will be observed from October 4 to 10 across Pakistan and in the world.

According to a spokesperson, the theme of this year, “Life in Space”, underlines how humanity is preparing to live and work beyond the earth and how space and technology of space shape the future.

Created by the United Nations in 1999, the World Space Week takes place each year to commemorate two historical events: the launch of the first artificial satellite, Spoutnik-1, October 4, 1957, and the signing of the external space treaty on October 10, 1967.

As the Pakistan National Coordinator of the World Space Week since 2005, Suparco has regularly ranked among the main contributors in the world. In 2024, Pakistan dominated the world graph by organizing more than 6,000 activities, making it the most active country of WSW celebrations.

For 2025, Suparco has planned a diverse range of programs to inspire students and the public on the wonders of space science.

These include teacher training workshops on the construction and launch of water rockets in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Gilgit; Space Camp 2025, with interactive workshops and competitions to design, build and launch model satellites; Space Van Visit schools in distant areas; Educational visits to the Suparco installations on a national scale; And a series of national level competitions such as the best space school, the competition of space ambassador for scientific societies and astronomy, and multiple public competitions to promote creativity and scientific thinking.

The initiative aims to inspire the young generation to pursue careers in space science, satellite technology, remote sensing, astronomy and related fields, while also emphasizing the vital role of spatial research in improving life on earth.
