- Google has a new Smart Home subscription package
- This is called Google Home Premium, and there are two levels
- You get additional access to Gemini and more video features
Google Home is getting a big overhaul today, with new devices and new Gemini AI integrations, and Google also takes the opportunity to update its Smart Home subscription offer – which is now called Google Home Premium, not Ned Cayn.
Yours for $ 10 per month or $ 100 per year (the standard level), or $ 20 per month or $ 200 per year (the advanced level), the new plans correspond to the old plans in terms of price, and in many features and advantages that you obtain in return. You also get the advantages as part of a Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription, but not a basic Google One Basic or Standard Premium basic plan – which is a shame, because Nest Care was included in the latter.
We are still awaiting confirmation on international prices, but if Google also keeps parity with Nest to conscience and the conscious nest outside the United States, you will pay £ 8 per month / £ 80 per year or £ 16 per month / £ per year in the United Kingdom for Google Premium Standard and Google Home Premium Advanced respectively.
In Australia, Nest Aware has been set at $ 15 per per month / $ 150 per year and Nest Aware Plus costs $ 30 per per month or $ 300 per year – so these prices will remain, but we will update this article if Google brings changes to prices as well as to the brand.
Video story and live Gemini
As with current packages, one of the main advantages is video history: in addition to seeing live flows from your home security cameras, you can also return to the archived recordings associated with motion events.
You get 30 days of history with the standard plan and 60 days with the advanced plan. With the latter, you also have access to 24/7 video archives, which are kept up to 10 days – so that you can look back on any clip from each time you want. Here is a complete ventilation of the differences between standard and advanced plans.
Then there is Gemini Live, which is the more natural, intelligent and conversational version of Gemini, which you may have tried on your phone. Although all new Google Smart Home devices get the standard version of Gemini, the Gemini Live advanced functionality requires a subscription.
Another advantage you can enjoy is the function of smart alerts, which means that your cameras will tell you what they see – packages, your neighbors, etc. – So that you don’t have to check so many notifications. In addition, you also get sound detection, so that your speakers can alert you to the sounds of the glass breeze or smoke alarms.
Authorities, summaries and research
A Google Home Premium subscription also gives you access to easy automation: you simply tell the application what you want to happen (so something in the direction of “turn off all the lights from the corridor when everyone has left the house”). Emergency calls for the Google Home application are also included.
The advanced plan is double the price in the United States, and in addition to the additional video archiving you get, there are also other additional advantages. You can ensure that Gemini are looking for in your camera and the bell history for something specific, which can save you several minutes of manual scroll.
You also get descriptions of events attached to alerts with Google Home Premium Advanced, which are intended to give you a better idea of what is happening – you know at a glance if you have to worry. Finally, Gemini also gives you a daily summary of everything that has been spotted by each camera.
All this is rather similar to the plans of consciousness of the old nest, but with additional gemini intelligences included – it is therefore logical that the same features are also included if you have registered with a Google AI subscription.
