“It is difficult to describe, not to be involved in politics, how it affected me and affected tens of millions of people in the whole country. And it was an alarm.”
Finebaum would hardly be the first notable name in sport to enter politics. More recently, Mark Teixeira has announced his Congress campaign.
Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Alabama, jumped the university football ship at the touch of Capitol Hill in 2021, and he also gave approval for Finebaum as it could be obtained.
“Paul is intelligent. He loves the country,” said Tuberville on the “War Room” podcast. “Once again, I have been one of my friends for a long time. I haven’t talked about it. I did an interview with him, 30 minutes, about two months ago in face to face. It went well.
“I tell you, he has a 100% identity document in Alabama. He would have a lot of big people behind him. He would be a force in the race if he decided to enter it. … Paul is a good guy, a good friend.”

Finebaum also said that he was counting on Tim Tebow following the Kirk assassination.
“The insane, but also what brought me more than anything other than the most obvious, losing his life, was his link with young people,” said Finebaum about Kirk. “I am on a university campus every week, and I am always amazed when young people come and tell me that they are fans.
