ABU Dhabi’s Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety (ADAFSA) has reaffirmed the prohibition on the exploitation of cryptocurrencies in emirate farms, warning that offenders are faced with rigid penalties and the disconnection of government services.
This decision follows recent discoveries of the reoriented farms of land and electricity for the exploitation of digital assets, does not use existing agricultural regulations.
According to Adafsa, these activities come up against the planned function of agricultural land, which is limited to cultivation of crops and livestock farming.
The captured mines operations will be sentenced to a fine of 100,000 Dirham (around $ 27,000), the penalty dubbing repeated crimes. Beyond the fine, Adafsa will cut electricity, confiscate the equipment and interrupt access to agricultural support programs.
Delinquents, owners and tenants, can also be referred to other authorities for new measures, said Adafsa.
The demand for energy in the exploitation of cryptocurrencies has caused other prohibitions around the world. At the end of last year, Russia imposed a six -year ban in 10 regions concerning energy consumption.
