Duchess Sophie arrives in Congo to support women’s rights

Sophie Wessex returned to the Republic of Congo to mark a special occasion.

The Duchess of Edinburgh arrived in the Congo to help and support women in the middle of the current conflict.

The royal family then appreciated their efforts in an Instagram post because they greeted their contributions to the Commonwealth.

On the official website of the royal family, it is revealed: “The Duchess of Edinburgh returned to the Democratic Republic of Congo at the request of the Foreign Affairs Bureau, of the Commonwealth and Development. The visit comes as the United Kingdom marks the 25th anniversary of the previous visit to the Duchess and the United Nations security in the DRC in the DRC in 2022.

The description added: “The Duchess of Edinburgh has met women of peace by working at the local level to highlight their work supporting local peace initiatives and has witnessed the devastating impact of the current conflict, especially on women and girls.”

“This visit follows the first of the duchess in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2022,” they noted.
