The Higher Minister of Sindh of Information, Transport and Public Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, stressed that these measures are not intended to receive income but to save lives and to guarantee road safety.
“Traffic offenses such as signaling leap, survival and wheel are not minor acts-these are fatal behaviors that endanger not only drivers but also others on the road,” he said, adding that repeated violers could face the suspension or cancellation of their driving licenses.
He added that the Sindh government is trying to modernize traffic management by introducing a digital surveillance system and strengthening the traffic police capacity.
He noted that the Demerite Point System would help follow the recurrences, a practice that has been successfully implemented in developed countries.
Awareness campaigns will also be launched to educate citizens on traffic rules and encourage voluntary compliance, said Memon. “Our goal is to build a safe driving culture and protect lives, not just to impose fines,” he added.
