- The Bluetooth amplifier powered by sound battery is launched on Kickstarter
- 100W mono class D amplification, and two can operate in a pair
- 40 hours of reading on the battery, 1 kg (2.2 lb)
What could be more practical than taking one of the best Bluetooth speakers at the beach? Take heavy analog speakers, a wire of speakers and an amplifier powered by battery at the beach. Uh …
This is not the best field I have ever presented, I admit it. But the sound portable amplifier is an intelligent little thing, although with a very specific niche. It is designed to take passive passive stereo speakers, feed them and add bluetooth streaming, and everything without requiring food intake.
This is not the first device to be broadcast on analog speakers, of course: the tastes of Bluesound, Elipson and Wiim have made compact Bluetooth and Wi-Fi amplifiers that will gladly bring the audio in streaming to passive speakers.
But to my knowledge, this is the first Bluetooth option supplied by battery, and it is also considerably more affordable than the more advanced amps. When the Bluesound Powernode Edge is to everyone is $ 749 / £ 599, the sound is simpler and on Kickstarter with an early price of $ 159 (around £ 118 / $ 240 before tax and shipping).
Bluetooth AMP portable soundup: key clements
Sound is a more modest device than that of Bluesound, so you do not get features such as Apple Airplay. But you get Bluetooth 5.1 and an entry to the wired in 100W of class D amplification, which is quite impressive.
However, this outing is in mono – you can associate two surveys for stereo, which is still not a bad price. If you run it on the battery, the promise is up to 40 hours of play (I suppose it drops a pile if you try to supply a multi-pilo floor floor), although it can also work on a wired power on USB-C.
The sound supports the speakers with an impedance of 3 to 8 ohms, culminating at 100 W in 3 ohms and “closer to 90 W PIC with 4-8Ω”.
The sale argument here is that the sound allows you to enjoy old speakers, speakers that “were high-end in their day, built with real wood, quality pilots and a adjusted acoustics that modern Bluetooth boxes cheap can not correspond. Today, you can recover them for a fraction of their price.”
And it’s absolutely true: there are very beautiful speakers that go for a song on places such as Facebook Marketplace. Although I wouldn’t say that most of them are particularly Portable, in particular those with real wood and adjusted acoustics, so when you team them up with sound (35 oz) sound, it’s a lot to lug.
So, as much as I like the oddity of the amplifier, I will not order one for me, although perhaps some people like the idea that their speaker location is free from the tyranny of current output placement.
However, the Kickstarter has collected tons more money than its initial financing objective, so it is clear that there is a demand for this rather unusual amplifier. You can find out more here on the official Kickstarter page.
