Experts discuss gaps in the Pakistan AI roadmap

The speakers during a theater highlighted Friday the need to fill the gaps in the national roadmap for artificial intelligence (AI) thanks to the effective implementation of the newly launched AI policy, governance and society of the country

The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (Pide) organized a high -level seminar on the national artificial intelligence policy of Pakistan, centered on the theme “Filling the gaps in the roadmap of the AI ​​of Pakistan: opportunities, challenges and ways”.

The event brought together decision makers, academics, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to deliberate on the AI ​​transformer potential for economic development, governance and broader society in Pakistan.

The panel presented distinguished speakers, in particular president of the government of the Pakistani government’s policies committee, Dr Anil Salman; Sciences and technologies members of the Pakistan planning commission Dr Najibullah; The CEO and co-founder of Techvention Ltd., Suniya Shahid; And the CEO of Atomcamp, Dr. Naveed Iftikhar, who joined the discussion practically via Zoom. The session was moderate by the Pide Wajid Islam research economist.

Dr. Salman described the vision of politics as daring, ethical and transformative, emphasizing inclusiveness through economic, social and technological dimensions. He explained that the policy had been formulated by an in -depth consultation with the national and international stakeholders, in particular UNESCO, the Asian Development Bank and the Commonwealth. He has planned that his full implementation could increase GDP from 7 to 12% and generate up to a million jobs by 2030.

Dr. Najibullah addressed the financial ecosystem, stressing the importance of venture capital and accelerators in filling the “death valley” of Pakistan during the scaling of start-ups. He announced the creation of a public venture capital fund of 2 billion rupees and highlighted the need to initiate global accelerators to support Pakistani innovators.
