The first full moon of 2025, a supermoon, will brighten up the sky through Pakistan on October 7, according to Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).
The phenomenon occurs when the moon reaches its point closest to the earth, known as the Périge, at a distance of approximately 361,400 kilometers (224,599 miles). At this point, it will seem about 14% larger and 30% more brilliant than a typical full moon.
Suparco said it will be the first supermoon in almost a year after the last in November 2024.

The agency added that when the moon is seen near the horizon, it may seem even greater due to an optical illusion. An effect observed for a long time among observers of the sky.
Three other supermoons are expected in the current cycle, November 05 and December 05, 2025, and another early January 2026, which will not be part of the 2025 series. On average, three to four supermoons occur every year every year
