Earlier this week, Openai launched Sora 2, a substantial upgrade on its previous AI videos generation tool, as well as a new application and a personalized flow of Tiktok style video clips – and there are changes in progress, according to the CEO of Openai, Sam Altman.
First of all, Altman says that copyright holders will obtain “more granular control” on how their characters can be used in the Sora application – in other words, it may not be so easy to generate clips with Marvel and Disney characters in the future.
“Right -handers … are very excited for this new type of interactive fan fiction ” and think that this new type of engagement will accumulate a lot of value for them, but want the ability to specify how their characters can be used (including not at all)”, explains Altman.
From Openai’s point of view, he wants as many users and as many generations of video clips as possible – and he hopes to make technology convincing enough for copyright holders wish to get involved, while giving them the choice to withdraw.

The second change of which Altman speaks in his new blog article concerns monetization rewards – although it seems that it will be for companies whose work is included in Sora clips, rather than the users who create them.
According to Altman, Sora users generate many more videos than we expect from OpenAi, and there could therefore be a kind of payment payment system introduced in the near future (there have been previous advice so that users have paid during periods of high demand).
“We will try to share some of these income with right -handers who want their characters to be generated by users,” says Altman. “The exact model will take tests and errors to understand, but we plan to start very soon.”
Currently, the Sora app is only available for iOS, and only in the United States and Canada – and you must have an invitation to try it. However, you can expect it to become more widely available soon, and most likely with more strict restrictions on what you can do.
