- United Airlines now supports the improved passage of iOS 26
- This means that you can see a flight tracker and an airport card from the logbook in the Apple wallet
- More airlines should soon take charge of these features
IOS 26 landed recently, and it has brought an upgraded load on your iPhone, including a new liquid glass interface design. But one of the promised upgrades was not really available during the launch because it forced the airlines to board.
We are talking, of course, of new boarding features in Apple Wallet, and now (via 9TO5MAC), United Airlines has finally adopted these useful tools.
If you add a united boarding pass to the Apple wallet in iOS 26, you will have more than the boarding pass itself – you can also press a button on it to add a flight tracker to your locking screen, showing things like the time remaining on your flight and the departure or the arrival door.
In addition, there is also the possibility of sharing the flight tracking with friends and family members, in which case they will see the same information on their locking screen, apart from your headquarters and your boarding group.
Airport cards and luggage monitoring
These new improved pass can also display an airport card and can display the location of any luggage that has an Airtag tracker.
So, these are practical features, and although many airline applications already offer flight trackers, others do not do so, and have them all in a single centralized location (the Apple portfolio) could be useful anyway.
Of course, you still need the airline to support these features, and right now it means that you cannot access them in United. However, Apple said that Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, Jetblue, Jetstar, Lufthansa, Qantas, Southwest and Virgin Australia will also add support for a long time. Hopefully other airlines will follow suit, but that remains to be seen.
