- The M5 iPad Pro would have two front cameras, but that is uncertain
- Two unpacking videos seem to contradict
- We will know with certainty when the iPad Pro M5 will be launched in a few weeks
Last week saw a major apple leak while the next iPad Pro M5 has not been unlocked in detail by several eminent Russian Youtubers. This is the second time that an apparently real Apple product has been escaped by confinement before launch, the M4 MacBook Pro being revealed before the calendar in October 2024. And with almost all sectors of the iPad Pro M5 which are put in the light, we have now received the answer to most of our questions – except one.
In July, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman said that Apple was working on adding a second front camera to the iPad Pro M5. The first unpacking video that revealed this device (published by Youtuber Wylsacom) seemed to suggest that it would be delivered with a lens to one front, because Wylsacom said that this element was identical to the iPad Pro M4 – which, as you may have guessed, has only one camera at the front.
However, in his power on the newsletter published this weekend, Gurman said that he could “say with certainty” that the iPad Pro M5 would actually have two front cameras. And now we seem to have a confirmation of this idea.
Indeed, a second Russian Youtuber (Romancev768) managed to get me an iPad Pro M5 disclosed, and their unpacking video specifically shown the second front camera. In their video, you can see a goal on the long edge of the tablet and another on its short side.
Romancev768 noted that the second objective does not seem to be a real camera because they could not take pictures with it, and they thought about what it was a sensor to help with the Apple office view function.
On the other hand, the Youtuber also estimated that the camera could simply be locked by software and will be unlocked when the device is launched. Given Gurman’s formulation that a second “camera” is present (not a camera and an additional sensor), this last option could be most likely.
Camera improvements?
The addition of a second camera could potentially improve video performance and cope with identification recognition, whether you use the tablet in portrait or landscape mode. Presumably, the device would simply choose the best goal for work without you having to return it manually, which would allow you to use it in the most comfortable mode.
Interestingly, Gurman did not seem to be aware of the Romancev768 video. Apparently in the light of Wylsacom by saying that the frontal camera of the iPad Pro M5 was the same unique configuration as the M4 model, Gurman noted that Apple had a story of drop in features (like the double camera configuration) at the eleventh hour, although he added that doing it here would be a “last minute cut”.
Combined with the uncertainty of Romancev768 on the capabilities of the new objective, we cannot be sure that you will end up with two “real” cameras if you get the iPad Pro M5. In the end, we will have to wait for the device to launch before we can be confident.
What else is new?
The ipad pro M5 unpacking videos gave us more clarity on two other features that have been rumor for Apple’s tablet.
The first is the introduction of the Apple M5 chip. According to benchmarks published by Wylsacom, this chip is around 10% faster in monocious performance and 16% faster in multi-core tests. As for its graphic outing, it is an impressive 34% faster than the M4.
The second change is an increase in entry -level memory from 8 GB to 12 GB, which should bring greater performance to the iPad Pro. Interestingly, disclosed markers show that this quantity of 12 GB RAM is present in the iPad Pro M5 at the base with 256 GB of storage. In the M4 version, the 256 GB and 512 GB models had 8 GB of memory, while increasing the storage to 1 TB or 2 to increasing the RAM to 12 GB. Whether it means that the 1 TB and 2 TO editions of the iPad Pro M5 will also offer increased memory capacities for the moment.
The emission of front lenses may not yet be resolved, but the iPad Pro M5 arrives in a clearer concentration. With its launch planned in the coming weeks, there is no time before you can try all its new features.
