- Google extends its VRP with a new IA -focused program
- Payments could reach up to $ 30,000 for pending reports
- Content problems such as hallucinations are not covered by VRP
Google has announced a new AI Vulnerability Reward (VRP) program for researchers focusing on safety problems and bugs in its AI tools.
The news comes about two years after Google has extended its abuse VRP, as Jason Parsons and Zak Bennett security engineering managers described as “a huge success for Google’s collaboration with AI researchers”.
Since the creation of the program, Google has allocated more than $ 430,000 of bogues to rewards just for AI products, stressing the extent of the opportunities available to them and the importance of eradicating buses in an increasingly connected and fueled world.

Parsons and Bennett admitted that “the scope of AI rewards was not always clear” and that “there was confusion as to the way in which [Google] handle[s] Abuse problems linked to AI “, hence the update.
AI VRP consists of eight distinct categories: S1 and S2, and A1 to A6. The most serious, S1, is described as “attacks modifying the state of the account or data of the victim with an obvious impact on security”. Other vulnerabilities include data exfiltration, service denial and rapid injections.
Bog hunters can gain up to $ 20,000 with VRP AI, with quality and new report bonuses that can potentially increase payments up to $ 30,000. The flagship products offer the highest awards and include Google, Gemini Apps and Google Workspace research.
Products like AI Studio, Jules and non -essential Google Workspace applications belong to a lower level.
Security engineering managers also used this message to highlight the distinction between safety/abuse bugs and content -related problems (such as hallucinations and copyright problems), they are not covered by VRP.
“Please continue to report content -related problems, including jailbreaks and alignment problems, but please point them out via comments integrated into the product, not via VRP”, note Google.
