- The Draftkings accounts were compromised via a farce of identification information or a brute force attack on September 2, 2025
- The data on display include names, emails, telephone numbers, payment card figures and account details
- Customers are invited to reset passwords, activate 2FA and monitor credit reports for fraud
The Draftkings game company has warned some of its users that their accounts have been hacked and some of the sensitive data stored are accessible.
In a letter of data breach published on the official Massachusetts Commonwealth website, the Draftocks explained that its systems were not raped, and that it was either a farce of identification information, or a brute force attack on September 2, 2025.
“By stealing information to identify connection to a non-drain source and using it in this attack, the bad actor may temporarily have been able to connect to certain accounts of Draftock customers,” said the letter. “Above all, our survey to date has not observed any evidence that your connection identification information has been obtained from Draftocks or that IT systems or draft networks have been raped as part of this incident.”
Nothing “sensitive” has been stolen?
The company has not said how many people have been affected by the attack or who attacked them. He said that the data on display include people’s names, birth dates, telephone numbers, email addresses, the last four figures for their payment cards, profile photos, previous transactions information, account balance and the last password change date.
This is a lot of information and can be used in all kinds of malicious ways. The attackers can use it in financial fraud, identity theft, account control, targeted phishing, SIM exchange attacks, social engineering and, ultimately – extortion.
The Draftings have stressed that the “sensitive” information of customers such as the identification numbers issued by the government, the complete financial account numbers or the “other information that would allow the wrong player to commit identity theft or access the bank accounts of our customers” were not accessible.
He now urges customers to reset their connection identification information, to set up two -factor authentication and to implement additional guarantees. He also asked them to examine their account and credit reports, and plan to place security freezing and fraud alerts.
