- The Kanto Obi3 launches for $199 / £179 (around AU$300).
- Bluetooth 5.3 for speakers and headphones
- Streamlined design with two-speed belt drive
Many musical things have come from Canada, including The Weeknd, Céline Dion, Avril Lavigne, Michael Bublé and Kanto Audio. And the latter has just announced the rather magnificent new turntable that you can see in the photo above. It’s called Obi3 and it’s the first in a series of turntables that the company intends to design and manufacture.
We already know Kanto for its excellent wireless speakers like the five-star Kanto Ren, and the Obi3 has been designed to complement them: it has Bluetooth 5.3 for streaming to active speakers or Bluetooth headphones as well as the obligatory RCA outputs.
Kanto Obi3 vinyl turntable: main features and prices
The Obi3 has a minimalist design and comes in three colors: black, white, and sage green shown in the photo. This is the one I would buy, as it shows off the clean design quite well.
The belt-drive turntable features a built-in switchable preamp, two speeds and – unusually for this price range – pitch control so you can make Justin Bieber sound like a chipmunk. The Bluetooth is 5.3 and the pre-installed cartridge is an Audio-Technica AT3600L; the J-shaped tonearm is made of aluminum, as is the weighted platter.
The Obi3 is very aggressively priced: $199 / £179 (around AU$300). This compares it to some of the best entry-level turntables from the likes of Sony, Audio-Technica, and Pro-ject. You will be able to buy one from November 2025.
