Justin Hawkins just admitted he never “intended to instigate a feud” with Yungblud.
Yungblud was furious after The Darkness frontman Justin paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne during his MTV VMAs, saying: “Yungblud seems to have positioned himself as a natural heir to Ozzy’s legacy, having nothing to do with the really important things.”
In a new video on his YouTube channel Justin Hawkins Rides Again called Yungblud and the cost of having an opinionJustin said, “There’s nothing feud about it, especially when it comes to my reactions to the VMAs performance.”
He could also be heard saying: “None of this was intended to incite a feud. I think Yungblud is a very well-connected artist and, as such, dangerous. He is an individual who is not the kind of bear you would want to poke.”
“But I think when there is real-time pitch correction, [referring to his criticism of Yungblud’s use of autotune] and stuff like that, and the other observations I made about the overall performance… you’re talking about someone who came from musical theater via Disney and is now being hailed as the future of rock. And if they have real-time pitch correction and that kind of background, I think it’s okay to be a little skeptical about that,” Justin said.
He continued, “I know it’s not a very popular opinion, but from the reaction community, if you can’t say something negative about something, that only leaves you with one opinion and that’s not how life works. Everyone is allowed to say whatever they want.”
“I’m not criticizing it because… I don’t even think I’m actually criticizing it. I think I’m making the point that if the future of rock requires real-time pitch correction in a live environment, rock is pretty fucked, right?” Justin Hawkins concluded.
This comes after Yungblud slammed “bitter and jealous” Justin Hawkins during his appearance in Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack Osbourne’s film. Try not to die podcast, where he said: “I think the strangest thing about it was that all I was trying to do was do my best for your old man, because he gave me such a gift.
“When people are trying to intellectualize a sense of spirit and six musicians on stage say ‘damn, I love you man,’ it’s just bitter and jealous,” he said. Zombie the hitmaker further said at that time.
