Kate Winslet reveals she was ‘scared’ of directing

Kate Winslet just admitted she was “scared” of directing.

THE Titanic actress set to make her directorial debut with upcoming Christmas movie Goodbye June and admitted that nerves had gotten the better of her before.

Kate said Empire Magazine: “I just decided – ‘F*** it. I’m going to do this.'”

“I asked myself, ‘How can I answer this question?'” she told the outlet.

Kate added: “I think I’ve often said, ‘I’ve raised a family. I have other things to do.’ But actually, I realized that the reason I hadn’t realized before was because I was probably scared.”

The actress who is also part of the cast of Goodbye June – cited the increased scrutiny of female stars who take the reins of the film as another factor in his reluctance.

“And I’m acutely aware of how much harder it is for actresses to become directors than it is for our male counterparts,” Kate said.

“I think there’s a lot more questioning about, ‘Can he or can’t he do it? What are they going to propose?'” she said.

Kate also spoke about her upcoming film, Goodbye Junecentered around a group of siblings who come together to spend time with their terminally ill mother, June.

She said: “It was very important not to make her (June) a perfect, comfortable mother.”

“When you’re dealing with loss, humorous and sometimes vaguely uncomfortable things can happen, so it was important to be as real as possible about that aspect of what’s happening to June,” Kate Winslet concluded.
