Indian telecom giant Reliance Jio is partnering with the Aptos Foundation and Aptos Labs to offer blockchain-based rewards to its over 500 million customers.
Jio, the country’s largest mobile network operator, plans to integrate Aptos’ layer-1 blockchain to distribute digital rewards through its telecom services. This decision was announced during the “Aptos Experience” event.
Aptos is known for its high-speed, low-cost infrastructure designed to handle heavy transaction loads, a feature needed to operate at Jio’s scale. Blockchain-based rewards are now in beta testing with “around” 9.4 million users experimenting with them.
The companies said the system would focus on real utility and not speculation. The goal, according to the announcement, is to integrate blockchain into the practical aspects of everyday digital life.
Aptos Labs will provide the technical support necessary to create and manage the platform.
