NYT Strands today (game #593) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #593, are…
- CAPER
- DO CABRIOLES
- GALUMPH
- SCUTTLE
- WALKING
- PRACTICE
- SPANGRAM: SILLY WALKS
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 1 clue
Fun subject matter aside, this was a really tricky game, featuring several words I’d heard of but never needed to spell.
Luckily, I discovered a lot of non-gaming words and a clue gave me CAPER, which started my slow progress on the board.
I immediately thought the theme referred to walking styles, but it wasn’t until I received the spangram that I realized the category was SILLYWALKS.
I’m sure this research was well received in the Czech city of Brno, as they hold a Silly Walks festival every March in honor of the Monty Python sketch, The Ministry of Silly Walks. But I can’t help but be offended that TRAIPSE is considered “dumb”, as I’m often told – being someone who doesn’t like walking at full speed.
