According to Mojang CEO Jens Bergensten, Minecraft‘s Creeper probably wouldn’t be included in the game if it were made today, as it would be “controversial”.
Speaking in a new behind-the-scenes dev video titled “The Biome That Broke Minecraft,” Bergensten talked about what he calls the “iconic” Creeper, one of the MinecraftThere are plenty of enemies capable of blowing themselves up and destroying anything within range, but he feels the game couldn’t feature the monster today.
“Even to this day, it’s one of the video game monsters that I’m still a little afraid of,” Bergensten said.
“If you were to go by the rules we have today, we probably wouldn’t add the Creeper. Because it would actually be very controversial to have a monster appear and destroy what you’ve built.”
Look on it
Earlier in the video, Bergensten explained that it’s important to make sure MinecraftThe destructive elements weren’t too off-putting for the player, touching on the Enderman and his ability to remove any block from the game and destroy anything the player created.
“It’s very important that every time you add something destructive to the game, you have to test it with the players and make sure it finds the right level of destruction,” he said.
Suffice it to say, Minecraft wouldn’t be the same without the annoying presence of the Creeper, because like it or not, it makes the game’s survival mode more difficult.
