President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday met Dr Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and President of the Organization of Muslim Scholars. The President praised the League’s efforts in combating extremism and Islamophobia and highlighted its growing collaboration with Pakistan in the areas of education, women’s empowerment and humanitarian assistance.
He described the MWL-organized International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities, held earlier this year in Islamabad, as a major step towards strengthening the intellectual and moral foundations in the Muslim world. The President also highlighted the jointly inaugurated Seerat-un-Nabi Museum as a symbol of shared respect for the life and message of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

President Zardari welcomed the draft cooperation agreement between the MWL and Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, emphasizing the importance of a coordinated approach in the areas of health, education and humanitarian work. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause and appreciated the peace efforts led by Saudi Arabia and the MWL, including recent initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal and reconstruction of Gaza.
The President described Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia as historic and rooted in mutual faith and respect, expressing optimism about expanding cooperation in defense, trade, investment and energy.

Dr Al-Issa said Pakistan holds a special place in the hearts of the Saudi people and termed the recent defense cooperation agreement between the two countries as a reflection of deep trust and strategic partnership. He also paid tribute to late Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and praised the political career of President Zardari.
The meeting was attended by several officials, including Senator Sherry Rehman and Maulana Tahir Ashrafi. The engagement reaffirmed Pakistan’s intention to deepen cooperation with global Islamic social bodies like the MWL and promote dialogue, tolerance and humanitarian collaboration.
