Florida should hire Tim Tebow as head coach, says former NFL star

Florida Gators football is looking for a new head coach after the school fired Billy Napier on Sunday following an error-filled victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III has floated a big name the Gators might want to consider as their next head coach – Tim Tebow.

“I’ve been saying it for years now, I think they should hire Tim Tebow,” Griffin said Monday on the “Dan Patrick Show.” “I think they should hire Tim Tebow. If Tim Tebow walks into a house in Florida, you tell me those parents don’t say, ‘Yeah, sign me up, I’m coming.’ You have to put a good team around him.”

Patrick and Griffin debated the idea of ​​hiring an iconic athlete like Tebow as head coach, as it hasn’t really gone well in college basketball for Georgetown, Patrick Ewing, St. John’s and Chris Mullin. However, it worked for Florida when the team hired Steve Spurrier as head coach before the 1990 season.
