Infiltration attempts made as Pakistan-Afghanistan talks underway in Türkiye
Security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 25 militants, including suicide bombers. The exchange of fire took place opposite the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram district and Spinwam in North Waziristan, the army’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces detected the movements of two large groups of Khwarij trying to infiltrate into Pakistan from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, opposite the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram district and Spinwam in North Waziristan district, on the night of October 24-25, 2025.
“Our troops fought these groups of Khwarij effectively, and as a result of precise and skillful engagements, 15 Khwarij, including four suicide bombers belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij, were sent to hell at Spinwam in North Waziristan district,” the ISPR said.

In Ghaki in Kurram district, another group of infiltrated militants was attacked by security forces, causing many casualties and recovering weapons and explosives.
“Ten more Khwarij infiltrators were killed in Ghaki of Kurram district, while a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the slain terrorists,” the ISPR said.
However, during the exchange of fire, the army said five soldiers were martyred while fighting valiantly in the line of duty.
“Five brave sons of the soil – Havaldar Manzoor Hussain, 35 (resident of Ghizar district), Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani, 23 (resident of Poonch district), Sepoy Muhammad Adil, 24 (resident of Kasur district), Sepoy Shah Jehan, 25 (resident of Vehari district) and Sepoy Ali Asghar, 25 years (resident of Pak Pattan district) – fought valiantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced the Shahadah,” the ISPR said.
Military media noted that the timing of the infiltration attempts coincided with ongoing diplomatic engagements between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Turkey.

“It is important to note that these attempts to infiltrate Fitna al-Khwarij are being carried out at a time when the delegations of Pakistan and Afghanistan are engaged in talks in Turkey,” the ISPR said, “casting serious doubts on the intentions of the interim Afghan government regarding its commitment to combat terrorism emanating from its soil.”
The statement added that Pakistan has consistently urged the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management and fulfill its obligations under the Doha Agreement by preventing the use of Afghan territory by Khwarij elements against Pakistan.
A disinfection operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the region. The ISPR reiterated that the relentless anti-terrorism campaign being carried out under ‘Azm-e-Istihkam’, as approved by the Supreme Federal Committee on National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated security forces for their successful operation that foiled the infiltration attempt in North Waziristan and Kurram.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the President expressed his deep admiration for the courage and dedication of the armed forces in defending the homeland and paid glowing tribute to the five martyrs who gave their lives in the line of duty.
“The misdeeds of the Kharijite elements and their Indian sponsors will never achieve their nefarious designs,” President Zardari said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.

“The nation will always be proud of the sacrifices of its brave sons,” the President said, adding that the martyrs, by sacrificing their lives in defense of the homeland, raised the head of the nation with honor and pride.
President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces constitute an impregnable wall for the country’s defense, protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity with unparalleled resolve.
He offered his sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs, praying that they would have the strength and patience to bear their loss with courage.
