ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan and Turkey on Saturday agreed to deepen cooperation in the areas of railway engineering, technology transfer and capacity building, and benefit from Turkey’s expertise in railway digitalization to strengthen Pakistan’s railway infrastructure and operational efficiency.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Saturday held a meeting with Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu on the sidelines of the Regional Transport Ministers Conference 2025 in Islamabad.
The discussion focused on railway development projects, improving logistics connectivity and creating a modern and integrated transport network between Pakistan and Turkey.
Minister Abbasi highlighted that the long-standing fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkey are gradually evolving into broader strategic partnerships in new sectors. He highlighted that there are many opportunities for Turkish collaboration in the ongoing modernization and reform program of Pakistan Railways.
The ministers also exchanged views on the development of logistics corridors, improvement of port connectivity and modernization of the transport fleet, recognizing these as key elements of regional transport integration and trade facilitation.
It was further agreed to establish a joint working group to advance collaboration in the area of transport infrastructure and review the progress of mutually agreed initiatives.
