Over Rs 42.5 million recovered from arrested officials, FIA tells judge hearing Ducky Bhai’s wife’s case
A local court on Friday extended the remand of six officials of the National Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in connection with a case registered against them for accepting huge bribes and abuse of power.
The Federal Investigation Agency has been directed to present the accused in court on November 3.
The charge against them was registered on the complaint of Aroob Jatoi, wife of Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai.
The FIA presented the accused in handcuffs before the court of Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo, after their three-day remand expired. The arrested police officers include Additional Director Chaudhry Sarfraz, Deputy Director Shoaib Riaz, Ali Raza, Zawar, Yasir Gujjar and others.
The FIA submitted its investigation report, stating that around Rs42.5 million was recovered from the accused officials.

Defense lawyer Munir Bhatti argued that the FIA had no evidence of a single transaction and alleged that the case was being unnecessarily sensationalized on social media, making a fair trial impossible.
He further contended that when a matter is the subject of notices from the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Chief Justice of Pakistan and the IGP of Punjab, one cannot expect an impartial trial.
Meanwhile, the investigating officer informed the court that a separate investigation into assets beyond known means has also been initiated against the accused.
He said the officers are “highly trained” and therefore the interrogation is complex as the FIA examines their past records and details of their assets.
After hearing the arguments, the court approved additional three-day remand and asked the FIA to re-present the accused on November 3.
