The NFL has heavily fined the Baltimore Ravens for incorrectly listing quarterback Lamar Jackson’s participation in practice last Friday.

The NFL fined the Ravens $100,000 for violating the league’s injury reporting policy, according to ESPN.

The NFL believes the error was due to negligence and not the Ravens’ attempt to gain a competitive advantage. Had the NFL concluded the violation was intentional, the potential disciplinary action could have resulted in a loss of draft picks, according to the report.

“It is critical that the Baltimore Ravens always operate with integrity and in full compliance with NFL guidelines,” the team said in a statement.

“We clearly erred in reporting player injuries and have cooperated transparently with the league’s investigation. We accept the NFL’s decision that we violated the policy and have taken steps to ensure we comply in the future. We will not appeal the decision and are focused on our next game against the Vikings.”

Jackson was called a limited participant Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week, then was named a full participant Friday despite leading the scout team.

The two-time MVP was then demoted to limited player and ultimately ruled out of the team’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Tyler “Snoop” Huntley started in place of Jackson and led the team to a 30-16 victory over the Bears. Jackson returned to the field in the team’s 28-6 win over the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.

With two victories in five days, the Ravens go back to 3-5 after a terrible start to the season and find themselves in full contention in the AFC North.

The Ravens’ next game will take place against the Vikings (3-4) on November 9.
