- Camera sensor upgrades planned for Galaxy S26 series
- The S26 Ultra model may also have a bigger battery inside
- We could see an even thinner model replace the Galaxy S25 Edge
We could be just a few months away from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, and the leaks continue – with the latest rumor reaching our ears regarding a telephoto lens upgrade on all four S26 models.
This comes from Alchemist Leaks (via Notebookcheck), and actually covers all the key specs of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra (this source confirms previous rumors that the Galaxy S26 Edge has been canceled).
Most of the specs are what we expected, but the highlight is the inclusion of a 1/2.55-inch, 12MP telephoto sensor in all three phones. That’s significantly larger than the 1/3.52-inch, 10MP sensor on the current Samsung Galaxy S25 handsets.
Although the 3x optical zoom wouldn’t change, the resulting photos would in theory be significantly better in terms of detail capture and noise reduction. A larger sensor means more light can be captured with each photo you take.
Improved batteries and new models
The same tipster suggests that the S26 Ultra model could receive an even larger telephoto lens, but that this is “still not confirmed.” There are also references to other “updated” camera sensors on the models, without any specifics on sensor size.
Samsung executives have publicly stated that improved cameras will be on the way with the new handsets. The slow pace of upgrades in this department is something the Galaxy S series has been criticized for in the past.
Another interesting information from this leak: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could receive a 5,400 mAh battery, compared to 5,000 mAh on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, although according to the tipster, this is a “last minute change” which is “not guaranteed”.
Finally, in addition to mentioning that the Galaxy S26 Edge has been canceled (matching previous reports), the tipster indicates that there could be a “slimmer” model about to replace it – so we could get four flagship models after all.
