Standing crops, orchards, vehicles are damaged and power supply collapses across the district
Heavy rains accompanied by a hailstorm lashed Upper Dir and Swat districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, leading to a sharp drop in temperature and causing widespread disruption.
In Dir, showers and hail plunged into darkness and triggered flash floods in waterways, blocking traffic on the GT Road. Intense rains caused erosion along roads in upper areas, leaving residents confined to their homes.
Standing crops, orchards and vehicles also suffered damage, while electricity supply was disrupted across the district when the power system collapsed due to the storm.
In Swat, heavy rains and hail also intensified the cold. In Mingora town, rising water levels in drains and streams have highlighted the poor performance of the Water and Sanitation Services Corporation (WSSC), with clogged drains spilling water onto roads.

Residents faced difficulties as rainwater flooded the streets. Meanwhile, a lightning strike in Chakdara damaged the 132,000 volt transmission line, disrupting power supply in various areas.
According to WAPDA Swat officials, efforts are underway to restore electricity, but no timetable for full restoration has been given.
