Jake Paul’s fight with ‘trash’ Tank Davis canceled after assault allegations

Jake Paul’s fight against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has been canceled after the latter once again found himself in legal trouble.

In a civil suit filed in Miami last week, Davis was accused of assault and battery on his ex-girlfriend at a strip club where she worked. He was also accused of making two written threats to kill her.

Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions announced Monday night that the fight would no longer take place, but Paul still plans to fight someone else by the end of the year.

After the fight was canceled, Paul tore into Davis as “a walking piece of human garbage.”

“Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The lack of professionalism, the bizarre requests, the hours late on set. Not to mention the numerous arrests and resulting charges and lawsuits. If you support this man, you are supporting the most vile sin a man can commit,” Paul wrote on his Instagram Stories.

“I didn’t want to give this abuser of women a platform to increase his fans and increase his bank account. My company stands for women. I am truly sorry to everyone involved. Especially to the undercard fighters, my MVP team and my team who worked so hard to prepare for this fight. Sacrificing time with his loved ones and his children just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. It’s scary that evil men like this can rise to the top of the world. culture and sport, including in positions of power.

“I hope you, the people moving forward, look beyond his fake ‘SWAG’ streetwear pieces and look for something deeper to be a fan of.”

Details regarding a new date, new location, Jake’s opponent and additional fights will be shared as soon as they are finalized. Davis’ ex, Courtney Rossel, claimed Davis burst into a gentlemen’s club where she worked as a VIP cocktail waitress early last Monday and attacked her in a back room with no cameras. Davis allegedly dragged Rossel through a stairwell, through a kitchen and out a back exit before assaulting him in a parking lot.

Rossel, who was in a five-month relationship with Davis before the incident, claims there were several other assaults, saying Davis “physically assaulted and strangled” her “at least” four times.

Rossel said she suffered from PTSD and anxiety when living with others because she didn’t feel safe.

Davis was arrested in Miami earlier this year for allegedly assaulting the mother of two of his children. He was also placed on house arrest in June 2023 after pleading guilty in a hit-and-run crash that injured four people in November 2020. Davis then violated the terms of his sentence and was jailed for the remainder of it.

He was arrested for assaulting women at least two other times. One of those arrests came less than two weeks before his fight against Hector Luis Garcia. The status of the fight remained unchanged and he won via referee’s technical decision in the ninth round.
