Penn Badgley has spoken candidly about the pressure from parents.
During his appearance on Bustle’s One Nightstand podcast, the You star opened up about he and his wife Domino Kirke’s approach to raising their children.
He said, “The 5-year-old right now, we have him in kind of a hybrid homeschool setting. He’s not in kindergarten yet.”
“We don’t need to teach these kids as much as we try to. Our reading and math comprehension is going down because we’re starting too early and so is everyone else,” Penn added.
He added that he just wanted his children to “just be kids.”
Penn said, “You hear parents sometimes in Park Slope, Brooklyn, talking about their kids in the park, and it’s like, God bless them all, seriously, I know we’re all doing our best, but the neuroses and the anxiety.”
Adding, “It’s like can we let these kids be kids? And the answer is actually no because we don’t know how to play.”
It is pertinent to mention that Penn Badgley and Domino Kirke are the parents of four boys. The couple, who married in 2017, recently welcomed identical twins.
