- More details about future iPhones leaked
- Foldable iPhone could sport an under-screen camera without Face ID
- It seems that Apple is considering an iPhone Air 2
If rumors are to be believed, Apple is planning a pretty big shakeup for its iPhones over the next couple of years, led by the foldable iPhone – and a new report highlights that device, as well as a potential iPhone Air 2.
This comes from a report from analysts JP Morgan (via @MaxWinebach), based on supply chain insights. These analyst reports are not official confirmation of anything, but they are compiled from internal industry sources that are generally reliable.
First, the foldable iPhone: it will apparently arrive in the second half of 2026, without Face ID, but with a 24MP selfie camera under the screen. There’s also a second 24MP selfie camera listed – likely for the exterior cover display.
For the rest of the camera specs, it looks like we’re getting a 48MP + 48MP dual-lens setup, with an ultra-wide sensor but no telephoto lens. This is relatively basic for an iPhone, but that’s to be expected given how thin the foldable iPhone is.
Something in the air

As for the successor to the iPhone Air, this analyst report suggests that there will indeed be an iPhone Air 2 in 2026, as well as an iPhone Air 3 in 2027. Apple is apparently showing great confidence in its new ultra-thin phone.
There has been talk within the industry that sales of the iPhone Air were slow – as were sales of the iPhone 16 Plus which it replaced in the range – but it would appear that Apple has not been deterred by this and will not be canceling the model.
If this report is to be believed, the phone will retain the same 48MP single-lens rear camera in the second and third generations – further proof of how slim dimensions limit what Apple is capable of in the handset.
Finally, the report states that Apple will indeed stagger the launch of the iPhone 18 handsets, as previously rumored: it appears that the iPhone 18 will be pushed back to 2027 along with the iPhone 18e, while the other iPhone 18 models will launch in September 2026 as usual.
