Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan on Friday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on
Shehbaz is accompanied by Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar.
As per the ministry’s announcement, the leaders are expected to review bilateral relations between their countries, identify and discuss avenues for deeper cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, energy, defence, education and regional connectivity.
The announcement stated that “Pakistan enjoys long-standing fraternal relations with Azerbaijan, with both countries maintaining cooperation in regional and international forums, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and the United Nations.”

The prime minister’s visit “will reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” the FO statement said, adding that the visit aims to “further advance the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.”
The prime minister’s visit to Baku comes as deliberations continue on the draft 27th constitutional amendment that the federal government plans to introduce.
Last month, Shehbaz visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad Bin Salman, and also made an official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim.
