The world’s best streaming services emerged in the penultimate month of 2025. With three huge new movies, as well as four new and/or returning shows, arriving on many platforms during the first week of November, you have plenty of great content to watch this weekend.
In fact, competition has been so fierce that potentially large deals, like Netflix’s, Death by lightningdidn’t even make the cut, which gives you an idea of how solid this week’s lineup is. So don’t delay any longer – read on to see what’s worth streaming before Monday rolls around again. – Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
Fantastic Four: First Steps (Disney+)
Look on it
The first of November’s new Disney+ movies is ironically the last Marvel movie of 2025.
A period piece set in an alternate reality to the MCU, – the first live-action film to do so, for the record – Fantastic Four: first steps represents the titular team’s first foray into the comic book giant’s ever-expanding film franchise. In it, the iconic quartet faces off against Galactus, a world-devouring cosmic entity bent on kidnapping Reed Richards and Sue Storm’s newborn son for reasons that will become clear when you watch the opening of Marvel Phase 6.

Frankenstein (Netflix)
Look on it
If Frankenstein is your most anticipated Netflix release of 2025, you have good taste. Better yet, I’m happy to report that Guillermo Del Toro’s latest offering fully lives up to our already high expectations.
I’m counting on Jacob Elordi to get an Oscar nomination for his role as The Creature, but the production design of this film (no CGI or AI was used) is basically a character in its own right. Every detail is breathtaking, stacking up to make Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel more grandiose and operatic than ever.
The best part about one of November’s new Netflix movies? How much love is poured into each image. Del Toro has realized his greatest childhood dream here and the story in return emanates hope, not hatred. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment journalist
Pluribus (Apple TV)
Look on it
“The most miserable person in the world must save the world from happiness.” If that’s not a logline that will immediately pique your interest in Apple’s latest sci-fi offering, I don’t know what will.
Ok, maybe the fact that Pluribusthe first two episodes of which are now available on Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+), was created by Break the bad And You better call SaulIt’s Vince Gilligan. Perhaps the fact that it stars Rhea Seehorn as a misanthropic author who must navigate a new status quo as almost all of humanity falls prey to a virus that turns them into carefree, autopilot individuals. And perhaps the fact that this multi-genre series goes against the grain narratively in more ways than one.
Basically, consider this one of the best Apple TV shows of 2025 — and one you won’t want to sleep on because, oh boy, is this the kind of series fans will theorize about for months. – TP
Squid Game: The Challenge season 2 (Netflix)
Look on it
It is a testimony of Squid game IP that we’re still invested in its gameplay after the main show ended in June. Indeed, 456 new players are taking up the challenge to win $4.56 million and, unsurprisingly, reality TV is following suit. Squid game season 2.
Squid game: the challenge Season 2 features Mingle, Six-Legged Pentathlon and Catch from the original series. Meanwhile, two brand new games – Count and Slides & Ladders – are joining the rotation.
This means we miss out on classics like Red Light, Green Light (still annoyed by that), but new twists have also been introduced. Did you know that the dormitory has a secret boiler room, equipped with a vending machine? It’s about to become Netflix’s worst-kept secret. – Joint venture
Maxton Hall season 2 (Prime Video)
Look on it
It’s finally time to return to the Maxton Hall private school in Oxford, England, to see what will become of the whirlwind romance between the arrogant and titled James and the discreet scholarship student Ruby in Maxton Hall – The World Between Us season 2.
While the pair were initially rivals, they now seem happy together – but how long will that last when James’ family is thrown into turmoil? Will their relationship survive or will Ruby return to her old life?
Adapted from the novel “Save Me” by Mona Kasten, the first three episodes of Maxton Hall season 2 is now streaming on Prime Video – and if you liked it The summer when I became pretty, then you will definitely want to log in. – Amelia Schwanke, Entertainment Editor
Materialists (HBO Max)
Look on it
I loved Céline Song’s debut in 2023 Past livesso I had high hopes for his second romantic drama A24 Materialists (it’s now available on HBO Max), especially with the filmmaker who is once again inspired by her own life.
Like Song, Dakota Johnson plays a New York matchmaker who finds herself torn between single Pedro Pascal, whom society considers her perfect match, and her ex (played by Chris Evans) who still has a flame for her.
It’s a classic story of will, will, set against the backdrop of luxury living in Manhattan, intertwined with reflections on modern dating, societal expectations, and consumerism. While this is one of the most notable new HBO Max movies, Materialists received mixed reviews upon its initial release, but that’s all the more reason to watch it yourself and see if you agree with those sentiments. – AS
Everything’s Fair (Hulu/Disney+)
Look on it
What do you mean Ryan Murphy’s new Hulu and Disney+ series Everything is fair got 0% on Rotten Tomatoes…and what do I mean when I say you still need to watch it?
Honestly, this fictional all-female law firm, consisting of Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, and Teyana Taylor, is the gift that keeps on giving. Imagine Paulson and Close engaging in a superb swearing match at opposite ends of a huge boardroom table. Imagine Kardashian destroying someone’s car with a golf club without emitting any emotion at any point in the series. Imagine Watts doing his best to exist in chaos. That’s what I call the magic of television.
In essence, Murphy has created something that will be exclusively enjoyed by the generation that supported him through thick and thin (American Horror Story season 2) and thin (American Horror Story season 12). It’s a thank you gift for our relentless passion that helped Murphy’s television empire in the 2000s exist the way it did and we should be grateful. – Joint venture
